This is our first home as a family. Prior to this we lived in a tiny two bedroom condo for many more years than we had planned to
We knew the exact neighborhood where we wanted to live. It's called The Gardens. It's a beautiful wooded area with lots of greenbelts and flower beds. There is a community pool and tennis courts. Ten families we know lived there. All less than a 1/2 mile from our condo. In fact our third floor balcony overlooked The Gardens, and for years I stared out, dreaming of living there one day.
We started our home search in March 2012. We looked at 10 or so homes. None were quite right; uncomfortable layouts, over our price range, too big, too small, too much work.
We weren't in a hurry, but I was impatient. I wanted my new house! Then, finally, the Peacock House came on the market. I loved it! It needed a little love, but it was perfect! My daughter loved it, even my husband liked it. We put in an offer and it was accepted on June 27 and then we waited....and waited....and waited while the finance and escrow people did their thing.
My husband and I would walk in the mornings and our new home was on the route. Some mornings I would look over at the Peacock window as we walked by, and other mornings I couldn't bear to! I wanted this house!!
There are a lot of wild peacocks living on the hill near our town. You see them occasionally out of the corner of your eye as you drive across the hill. During our long wait my daughter and I saw three peacocks "fly" across the road in front of our car! I had never seen that before, and have never seen it since. I took it as a sign that the Peacock House was meant to be ours!!
Finally, after a long summer of waiting, we got the keys on August 15. Coincidentally, the same day my daughter started 7th Grade.
And so, this is how the Peacock House came to be. Fifteen months later it is still not perfect and there is still a lot of work to be done. But it is our home.
Welcome to the Peacock House!

Pretty :)
